Emily Candee and Heather Savarese are the creators and co-owners of Vine.

How they met: Emily and Heather initially met through their husbands, longtime college friends. A few years later during Heather’s wedding weekend, Emily decorated a sculpture with flowers and vines for the ceremony, which was Heather’s favorite piece of decor. They didn’t know it at the time, but this was the beginning of a great friendship and creative partnership.

Who they are: Emily grew up in West Hartford, CT, and graduated from Skidmore College in 1998. After working as a corporate concierge, she discovered her true calling in flowers, and became a floral designer for exclusive shops in Manhattan. Heather grew up in Long Island, New York, and graduated from George Washington University in 1999. With a talent for event planning, her professional career included working in sales and marketing at MTV networks.

The creation of Vine: The two friends possessed similar values and complementary tastes and styles. Discussing their career paths over brunch one day, they decided to combine their passion for flowers and events to build a business of their own. Vine was created in early 2006.

What they love: All things flowers, and all things weddings. Both women were bitten by the wedding bug when they designed the flowers for a friend’s summer wedding. They love getting to know brides on a personal level, and feel lucky to be given the opportunity to help create a beautiful day.

Emily and her husband currently live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Heather also lives on the Upper East Side with her husband and daughter.
